The European Research Network in Systems Biology (GDRE SysBio) has been created in 2008. Its initial goal is to foster the cooperation of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in the field of Systems Biology.

Following some grounding work, it was decided to hold a yearly general meeting with a broad coverage, and with a medium size to pursue the construction of a common culture in a broadened view of Systems Biology scope. In addition, it was deemed that smaller, more focused meetings decided bottom-up would also be useful to foster concrete transnational collaborations.

The purpose of the GDRE SysBio is to provide support for the coordination of these scientific activities.

For this purpose, the GDRE SysBio undertakes to:

  • Facilitate and encourage contacts and exchanges between researchers
  • Encourage co-operative actions such as multi-partner research programs to respond to calls for tender for research and technological development support
  • Develop conference programs which complement and harmonize with its research project
  • Encourage training actions
