Preprint: Inexact methods for the low rank solution to large scale Lyapunov equations
September 18th, 2018
Melina Freitag (Uni Bath) and Patrick Kürschner investigate the effect of inexact linear solves in rational Krylov subspace and lowrank ADI methods for large matrix equations. Dynamic stopping criteria are developed that decrease the amount of work spent in solving the sequences of linear systems.
Preprint: Greedy lowrank algorithm for spatial connectome regression
August 17th, 2018
Patrick Kürschner, Sergey Dolgov (Uni Bath), Kameron Decker Harris (Uni Washington), and Peter Benner investigate a matrix regression problem arising in computational neuroscience. The problem is formulated as largescale algebraic matrix equation which is solved by a greedy lowrank algorithm.
