Project description:
Power consumption of HPC kernels and architectures is becoming a critical factor. The increase in power consumption of the new architectures represents a problem that must be confronted to allow new advances in HPC. As a matter of fact, concepts like Green or Poweraware computing, and Poweraware architectures are becoming more and more popular. The reduction of the power consumption without a lost of performance is the aim of this research line. This can be obtained exploiting the use of Poweraware HPC techniques and architectures.
  • From the software point of view, reorder and/or rewrite the algotrithm, and the use of specific methods and techniques are the key to reduce power consumption.
  • From the HW point of view, the exploitation of new poweraware architectures like GPUs, Carma platforms, and DSPs is sometimes desirable and/or necessary.
In this research line we pursue to obtain real and feasible poweraware solutions to engineer and scientific problems.
